Do I have photography skills?
Silent Rumours asked the question:
I’m 14, considering pursueing a career in photography. I suppose I’m slightly good for my age at it, and I enjoy it very much. I like taking pictures of the random things that most people otherwise wouldn’t have noticed, I feel it adds a sort of unique-ness to the photograph; I look around my house for not too noticable things and photograph anything I believe has unique depth. I take a lot of pictures in restaurants, a crayon on the table, Cherry coke in a glass, that sort of thing. Not exactly having a main subject but capturing the picture at ironic angles; knowing all of the basic rules but breaking most of them. That’s my basic description of it anyway. Do you think I have any skills?

Hey, that wasn’t very nice! Actually, my brother used to way 300-something-pounds, and he lost a LOT of weight. He’s lost 120 pounds since June, it was crazy! He doesn’t touch junk food, he’s a health freak! So please, don’t judge him. K? K.

thats really, really good. im impressed (=
I loveee love loveeeee these photos.. my favorite it the one with the red brick wall on the side & the one in the grass! i thought you will do great!!
These are great - I especially like your “treetops” picture. You do indeed have a great talent (and probably a great camera!!). Good luck.
OMG!! you are an amazing photographer you should become a professional!! WOW i am stunned……….what kind of camera do you have cause i cannot find such a brillant photo taking camera
GREAT JOB!!!
i love your photos(: although; you need to make sure photography is the right thing for you. photographers usually spend more then they make. which can land them in types of debt. a hobbie is great; but a carrer is something you need to think about.
yes if you posses the talent
which i can see here then why not?
take photo all four years of high school
then look for a photography college
wow. those are really good/cool! Your reallyyyyyy good at it.
Yes art is in the eye of the beholder. People throw paint and make sculpture out of old metal and thats art so why not.
The simple things are sometimes the most interesting these days.
Great pictures! They look professional.
I am 15 and I take photos professionally. They look very good.
The angles look good but lighting on some of them could be better.
You could certainly have a career.
Yes you have good photo skills.
How did your brother get a girl that nice looking? He could use a bit of a diet and a makeover. Keep his hands out of the bowl of Doritos. No offense!
Yes, I do. I like the nature ones, they are pretty good, especially the low shot of the grass. The ashtray one was kinda neat. But my favorite was the waterbottle, without the caption, it might have taken me a minute or two to even figure out what that is. The people one’s are OK. Keep at it, you’re young and if you have an interest, you’ll only get better.
I enjoyed viewing ur photos theyre awesome!
Thats a good way to begin with try to take pictures o things that is hard so you improve your skills and have confidanse in yourself
You have some pretty amazing talent, if in a few years you still enjoy taking photos, you should definitely persue a career in it.
Yes. Your very good, @ Your age thats excellent. just remember practice makes perfect.
umm, YEAH!
you’re really good. In high school a lot of schools have different classes you can take. And maybe try some black and white, etc. also try editing the pictures with different colors. Also, don’t do so much nature. do people too!
…And you’re really pretty.
Wow those are awesome! yeahh you def. have skills!
keep it up!
p.s. how did you get the raindrops so vivid in the last one?!
p.s.s. you’re really pretty!
i love those pictures! my uncle is a professional and some of your pictures remind me of his, so…….. my favorites are:
grass, tree tops, ashtray, the water bottle, the one at the beach, the tree that you thought ‘looked so cool’, and the sunset
wow, very nice! you do have potential and skill!
i love the heart of the ocean one- XD
yes you have. keep it up love.
you photographs look very good. Keep learning and enjoying it. You are very pretty. I would like to see more of you.
They are REALLY good. i was a art major. all through high school & went to S.C.A.D. (art college) But In my photography class there was this guy who ALWAYS had his pics chosen as best pic in photo. class & it was only b/c he had a fish eye lens. (in case u dont know what it is it makes things look curved like the whole pic) but they are really expensive so you should try to find the lens that doesnt completly attach but u kinda just hold it over the camera as your taking the pic. but I think it would add just that extra somthing in sum of your pics. but besides that they are really awsome
woah! you are REALLY good! the photos are amazing and all have different stories to them…If you honestly love photography and would like to pursue a career in this profession, then you’ll have more than just skills! all you have to do is enjoy and love what you’re doing always!
I think you do indeed. Really can’t see anything that is asks for a critical comment, only laudable comments like “good eye” and great technique. Wonderful subjects, and good use of perspective (POS {position of shot/shoot/shooter}), refractive and reflective light, liquid ambiance and light, dark & color saturation (which depends on how “bright” a shot is, how much and what spectrum falls on what angle on an element of a shot).
See if you can fill a screen (1024×768) and still keep it interesting, you got great “small eye” skills but let’s see your “wide eye” skillz (whole people, animals (zoo’s are good) ,whatever (fairs, harbors, airports, cityscapes with weather involved is overdone sure, but fun, and night is weather too) and also try your hand at montages and series (since you do people and things/objects) with pictures, and also show us some editing skillz (just use Paint.exe, don’t need complicated software unless you already have it).
Find a good mentor (I think you are beyond needing teachers or tutors, a mentor is more like a “coach” who still “plays” but is very wise)
. Maybe I’ll post a picture of mine somewhere or see if you have an e-mail address. I live too far away to help beyond that. But do get a girl mentor if you do, guys have, IMHO, have “different eyes”, besides, it’s fun to hang out with no presures if one gets bored. You got to sometimes let the pic come to you, not always be chasing it!
Oh, yeah. You got it, girl. Go for it.
Good job. Take some philosophy.
