What are good ways to get a job as a wedding photographer?

I’m graduating this month and i would really like to do something with photography as a career. i would like to get in to wedding photography, but i don’t really know how to go about doing that. does anyone have tips or advice that could help me. any kind of advice would be appreciated. thanks a lot!

i'm getting a bachelors degree in art ( i focused on photography ) if that helps. i also want to photograph concerts. if anyone has advice on that, that would be great, too.

    Assuming that you have photography skills to use a camera properly, why don’t you try to work under a professional (unfortunately this likely will be for free) for a while to gain the experience.

    Pooky is correct. Though it may be hard for you to accept now after the work and time you have put in on your degree, the bottom line is you STILL need some real world experience first before you try to “go it alone”. It is actually not too hard to make appointments with and discuss with professional photographers about working as an assistent for FREE for a while to gain experience. It will be invaluable to you in the long run… and even in the short term.

    Hang around churches and tell the photographers that the wedding has been cancelled.
    There’s your opening
