HI, I’m sixteen and also seriously considering photography as a career. I’m not sure about University but I know that TAFE has a few different courses in photography. I think that the courses are just photography, like learning all different shots, lighting, developing etc. And I don’t think they have courses in any specific photography careers.
There are so many careers that you can have with photography. Like the paparazzi, journalism, forensic photography, animal photography, landscape photography, sport photography, weddings, special events etc. so whatever one you liek the best or would like, think about that.
Depending on your skill, experience etc. in photography, that could influence what job you may have. You could be on a contract with a certain newspaper, company, magazine etc. that you get a set amount of pay and work for an amount of hours a day, or you can work for yourself and send pictures to whoever and they buy them off of you, or if you are a very creative photographer you can sell them as artwork.
But I don’t know that much because I’m only in year ten.
There’s heaps more about it. Try and research it on the internet or go onto univeristy or TAFE sites. That may help you out.
Hope this helps and good luck in the future =)

It is good to plan ahead. Taking classes now in high school and working for the school newspaper will get you going.

Here is a list of the top four photo schools in the US

    Art Center
    Brooks
    Cal Arts
    RIT

That said you may want to attend your local community college and take some classes in photography until you are ready to jump into the fray at a photo school
