Tips for Photography?
Girlnextdoor asked the question:
I am 13 years old and I have been interested in photography since the age of 10. I have been thinking alot about getting a career in photography and starting my own business, but my question is where do I start? Obviously I am not old enough to run my own business, but if anyone could post some tips to help me get started I would greatly appriciate it.
Please help! Thanks in advance!(:
I own a SLR(Nikon D40) with a 18-55mm lens.
I have been practicing in Manual and Auto mode.
I would also appriciate if anyone could post some tips on buliding a Photography Blog. I have also pondered on that.

Do I have photography skills? (pics included)?
Silent Rumours asked the question:
I’m 14, considering pursueing a career in photography. I suppose I’m slightly good for my age at it, and I enjoy it very much. I like taking pictures of the random things that most people otherwise wouldn’t have noticed, I feel it adds a sort of unique-ness to the photograph; I look around my house for not too noticable things and photograph anything I believe has unique depth. I take a lot of pictures in restaurants, a crayon on the table, Cherry coke in a glass, that sort of thing. Not exactly having a main subject but capturing the picture at ironic angles; knowing all of the basic rules but breaking most of them. That’s my basic description of it anyway. Do you think I have any skills?

Any careers dealing with photography (that doesn’t have humans as subjects)?
Time asked the question:
I like photography, but unfortunately I’m a very basic beginner. I’m certified in Microsoft Office programs and I’m currently making a good wage as an Excel/Access specialist, but I don’t want to do this with the rest of my life and I think something along the lines of digital photography may be something I would like to pursue. (I’m 23)
But I don’t like the idea of taking pics of kids, married couples, family portraits, high school graduates, etc… I think I would be more interested in focusing on nature, animals (especially birds), science (especially astronomy related… as long as it doesn’t require too much of a science background… I’m not a scientist), etc… (And no, I don’t want to go into journalism and take pics of current events / news)
Does anyone know of any non-human subject photography job titles / careers I could consider? Thanks.
Well konstantin1917 and DRAAGON if everyone went by that advice then I guess no one would ever bother to be photographers and the beauty of photography would pretty much be obsolete wouldn’t it? Well, us young folks have to start somewhere. Thanks for the advice, but I usually don’t turn down a challenge because there aren’t too many jobs available or because capital is hard to come by. If a person isn’t willing to go through hell for their dream, then they simply don’t deserve to work any higher than Walmart. Thanks for the advice - it was helpful.

Question for professional photographers, instructors, or camera experts? Recommendations for a digital camera?
M R asked the question:
I previously had a Kodak z730 cam, 5mps and 4x optical zoom… I really liked this camera, but lost it and am looking to replace it. Before I buy this cam again, I wanted to know from some PROFESSIONALs their recommendations for a camera. What do you think about the Kodak z730? I am looking for something I can easily carry around with me, but will start to take me into a photography career. I don’t necessarily wish to buy a professional camera at this time, as I just need something for events and when I choose to be creative. I do intend to eventually purchase a professional camera later on down the road… Thank you so much for your help.

I can’t decide what kind of career I want to have?
diamonddballerina asked the question:
I have a really good memory, I like science, english/writing/reading and photography and I’m pretty good at math. I really love dancing, too. I was thinking I wanted to be a journalist but I’m not sure. Does anybody have any suggestions? I also care about things like the environment and animals.

Photography for a living?
☼♥ツ asked the question:
Ok, I’m still in high school trying to think of my future. I love photography and would probably like to do it as a career. Not to boast but I am pretty good at it. Not the best but my teacher always has a comment on my pictures/developing. As I’ve said, I’d like to do it as a career but I don’t know what to do with my skills. What are some careers involving photography? I’m not good at people pictures but with nature, I’m awesome [again, not to boast.] If I need a degree or something from college for a job in photography, what college(s) would be good? Any information about doing photography as a living or help would be greatly appreciated. And can you take an online college course for photography? Thanks.

I need advice about being a photography assistant?
Mrs. Bobby asked the question:
I may be getting an interview to become a photography assistant with a downtown studio in the city I live in… The thing is, that I have really NO EXPERIENCE with professional photography. I absolutly love photography and would love to have a career in photography, but I’m scared the photographer will be turned off by my lack of experience. I emailed him telling him I love photography and have taken a few classes during highschool where my teacher considered me the “best in the class”. The photographer called me today but left me a msg to call him tomorrow to discuss the position more. I want to impress him on the phone but how can i do that?
If he see’s enough passion and motivation for getting into this industry do you think he could give me a chance?
Thanks for anyones answers
