Tell me about your work and yourself?

Sam asked the question:

Did you know that you can click on your icon to view your profile? Yeah, you did that at one point to set things up, didn’t you?

It would be nice if you would click on “Edit My Info” and put from one to 20 lines about yourself, what you do, what you use (if you are into that), some favorite sites, etc. I think you are limited to 1,000 characters.

You’ll note, for instance, that I mention my career (not photography) and some of my background in photography.

It seems nice to me that I can click on a member’s icon and learn a bit about their background, experience, credentials, business, etc. Who knows, pros? Maybe you would even get a call for some work out of it. Click on fhotoace’s face and see how he handled this as a good example.
Antoni - I’m trying to encourage more of a community feel here.
Antoni - nice job!
And you pros might want to provide some contact information or a location. No, you might not want to put a home address on the internet, but maybe your city or state. Maybe a business phone number. I don’t know about that… Community Guidelines say, “Post content for advertising or commercial purposes,” but it seems like that would apply to questions and answers. I’ll go ask this in the Yahoo! Section and get back to you.
You may want to follow the answers to this related question about posting business details: http://answers.yahoo.com/question/index?qid=20070801092206AA6kmB2&pa=FYd1D2bwHTHwLL9vHO84QwAc3atTs.a0p5eJfAHK6CsLHzT63IdJECujPf1cpJXsdqeVm0t3FPkS4Q–&paid=asked&msgr_status=
I’ve contacted Y!A staff directly for clarification on how business or commercial much info you can include in your profile. I’ll follow up here for you.
Ara57, I think most dentists have an artistic side. After all, it’s what we do all day, isn’t it? It’s just that MOST of what we do will never be seen by anyone else!
Hey Terisu, I’ve been trying to finda way to tell you that I noticed your new photo a few months ago and think it’s pretty cool.

ALL - Maybe you can add a link to your on-line photos? fhotoace did this long ago….. although a direct link would be helpful.
Here’s the official word from Yahoo!
~~~~~~~
In general, users are allowed to add personal details such as an address or phone number to their profiles. However, if they use it as a way to solicit other members (answers such as “I’ll do the assignment for you. My conact info is in my profile.”) or if we find the information put up is someone else’s posted for malicious purposes, then in those two cases it wouldn’t be allowed.
Help getting into photography?
Nick F asked the question:
I am interested in getting into professional photography. I have a steady job with nice income, so that’s not a problem. I often see things and think ‘wow, that would make a wonderful photo’. I realize that the road of actually making a living with photography can be pretty long, competitive, and involves a lot of hard work, but I’d like to get my foot in the door.
My first step is to buy a nice DSLR Camera and some accessories. I’m willing to spend around 1,000 dollars on this. What specific models/accessories do you recommend?
Secondly, what is a good path to take to begin working toward a career in photography? I plan to carry my camera around with me as much as possible just in case a good photo opportunity appears. I plan to also take some photography courses and read some books on photography techniques. After I gain a good amount of experience, I plan to start entering photography related contests. I then plan to start building a portfolio. What other advice can you offer?
Sydney Photography Employment?
kyle_j_88 asked the question:
G’day all,
Im a 20 year old “photographer” on the northern beaches of sydney and i am looking for someone in the photography industry willing to train an apprentice photographer, desirably in wedding photography. I have my own D-SLR and have been experimenting with photography for about 2years.
I am very willing to learn whatever is needed, and do the “dirty” jobs where required. I would love to make a career from photography, but i understand how hard that can be. If anyone can help me, or know of someone who can, i would be very very greatful!
I do have a collection of my photographs on a well known website - www.deviantart.com.
P.S any advice at all would be great.
Thankyou, Kyle.
i want to start photography?
holdontight_ asked the question:
I am 17 years old and studying philosophy and ethics, history, english literature and phychology for A level. I also have a part time job and am learning to drive. I took art for GCSE but didn’t continue as wouldn’t help in my career as the other options will. I’m very creative and want to start photography. Do you think it’ll be too much for me?
